MobileActive Wiki:About

From MobileActive Wiki

Welcome to the MobileActive Wiki

This tutorial will give the basics needed to start using the MobileActive Wiki. For details and additional information, please visit the Help pages.

1. The MobileActive Wiki is a reference guide in which the contents are created, edited, and organized by you, the MobileActive community. Every member of the community has the ability to create, edit, and organize pages.

2. Articles on the MobileActive Wiki are collaboratively edited by the community. Once an article has been created, other members may make changes to, correct, or build upon an article. Collaborative editing allows articles to become rich sources of accurate information based on the collective knowledge of this community.

3. The MobileActive Wiki pages are organized in a hierarchical structure and consists of pages. Pages can be articles or categories.

  • Articles are pages that contain content. They can be the definitions of a term, the answer to a frequently asked question, steps for how to achieve a specific objective, a reference to research or a book, or even source code along with a description of what it does, etc.
  • Categories are used to organize the MobileActive Wiki. They hold a list of subcategories and articles that have the category as one of their parent categories. You can help categorize both articles and categories by giving them parent categories. It's easy to categorize pages. Categories are used to navigate through the wiki in order to find the article you are looking for, so we strongly encourage you to use them to make content easy to find.
  • Before creating an article, please do a search on the MobileActive Wiki to see if it or a similar article already exists. If it has already been created, you can click on "Edit this page" and build upon its contents. If the article you are looking for does not exist, you can create a page and write it!

4. The MobileActive Wiki is a reference guide, not a discussion group. In other words, the MobileActive Wiki is not a place to ask questions for others to answer. It is the place to share your expertise about mobiles for social impact, and to be an author of a global mobiles-for-social impact community reference.

5. Every article has "Edit this page", "Discuss", and "History" features that can be accessed through the top navigation.

  • "Edit this page" lets you change or build upon the page.
  • "Discuss" lets you talk about issues regarding the article such as why you think it should be renamed or why you edited the second paragraph. This is a great way to communicate with other contributors to streamline the collaborative editorial process for an article.
  • "History" lets you see how the article has developed over time. Compare any two edits in history to see how they differ.

Start participating and share your knowledge in this community-edited mobile-for-social impact reference guide. Create an Article or edit and build upon an article! Thanks, and welcome to the MobileActive wiki!
