Global Survey on NGO Mobile Adoption of more than 25,000 NGOs

Posted by KatrinVerclas on Jan 02, 2008

Happy New Year, MobileActives!

To ring in the New Year, MobileActive is conducting, with the UN Foundation and the Vodafone Group Foundation, a global survey of more than 25,000 civil society groups about how these organisations are using mobile phones in their work.

As MobileActive readers know, with more than three billion mobile phones around the word, NGOs and civil society groups are using mobile phones to advance their work, communicate with the people they serve, and even use cell phones for data collection and information delivery.

This survey will gather important data on the opportunities and challenges of this 'mobile revolution’ for civil society. We are working with a host of distribution partners such as idealist.org, New Tactics, InfoDev of the World Bank, ShareIdeas.org, the UN Foundation, Vodafone Group Foundation, and others. If you are a network of NGOs and interested in participating in this survey, please contact us at info [at] mobileactive [dot] org.

Survey results will be released in February to organizations, researchers, technology developers, and donors around the world.

In the meantime, if you want to learn more about the many ways in which organizations are using mobile phones in their work, read our blog!

To the mobile revolution in 2008!
