- A new research paper, "Socio-Economic Impact of Mobile Phones on Indian Agriculture," shows how mobile phones are being used by farmers in India to increase their revenue and save time and expenses. The study covers how mobiles have affected farmers, fishermen, and traders - with a look at benefits and the infrastructure problems that limit potential benefits.
- jQuery announced that it is developing a mobile version of their platform, and that "the core jQuery library [is] being improved to work across all of the major mobile platforms, but we’re also working to release a complete, unified, mobile UI framework."
- A study by SocialFlow foundm not surprisingly, that mobile Twitter use is much higher on the weekends, compared to desktop usage rates during the work week. The study revealed that nearly 41% of clicks on Twitter links on Saturdays came from mobile devices, and that Friday and Saturday nights have higher mobile usage rates than Sundays or weekdays.
- Nomad Editions is a mobile-only magazine that will launch in the fall of 2010. The mobile magazine will be designed to support both written articles and multimedia – each issue will focus on a narrow topic such as food or movies, and subscribers can tailor which magazine issues they receive based on their interests.
